According to the research, when you're in an argument with someone, what you're arguing about has less of an impact on the intensity of the conflict than the way you're arguing.

Certain ways of arguing predictably make the conflict worse (frequent interruptions, for example), and certain ways make things better (like suggesting a compromise).
